The Film "Stalingrad" is a good film too. It´s like the name says a film about War in WWII at the russian strategic-important town stalingrad. Germans against russians in the Winter. Very hard.

A funny german Film is "Ballermann 6" with sick(crazy) guys who have no brain in the head.

Another good Warfilm is the european Production "Enemy at the Gates". But i think that u can get that in English.

German subtitels are the best choice if is possibility.

Depends on which country you're from. Do not forget to have a look at the regional encyption of the DVD's. If you're from Europe this should be noc problem. Rethink the upper advice if you're not.

This is really a good sugestion! But for this you will have to buy German DVDs I guess, because I don't think you have german language on DVDs in any other country? (I don't exactly know. Off course in Germany you nearly always have the original audio on the DVD but I'm not sure which languages are on the original discs...)

Das ist wirklich ein guter Vorschlag! Aber dazu wirst du wahrscheinlich deutsche DVDs kaufen müssen, denn ich glaube nicht, dass die deutsche Sprache auf DVDs in anderen Ländern vorhanden ist? (Ich weiß es nicht wirklich. Natürlich bekommt man in Deutschland fast immer den Originalton auf DVD, aber ich bin nicht sicher, welche Sprachen auf den Originalscheiben sind...)

I for one would recommend the films of Werner Herzog (German language movies: "Nosferatu", "Lebenszeichen", "Herz aus Glas", "Woyzeck", "Fata Morgana", "Stroszek", "Lektionen in Finsternis", "Auch Zwerge haben klein angefangen", "Jeder für sich und Gott gegen alle").

A truly masterpiece for me is Wim Wenders "Der Himmel über Berlin".


There are also some singer, songwriters and bands I would suggest you give a try:
Ton Steine Scherben, Franz Josef Degenhardt, Die Ärzte - to have some range the music of these three is very different.
