    Arbeitsspeicher

    Mal wieder was von mir:
    Eingebaut sind zwei Riegel Infineon 512MB, DDR, 333, CL 2.5
    also 1 GB SDRAM.
    Nun möchte ich gern zwei Riegel Infineon 1024MB, DDR, 266, CL 2, ECC, Reg einbauen.
    Beim ersten Versuch sprang der Computer zwar an, gab aber kein Signal aus. Also wieder zurück getauscht. Ein Bekannter erwähnte etwas von Takten einstellen, Bios(?) oder so.
    Wer kann mir weiterhelfen?

    Nun ja, der neue Speicher den du hast ist langsamer als der alte. Daher solltest du im Bios den Takt des Fronsidebusses anpassen. Ist leicht möglich, dass der 1GB-Ramziegel die derzeit eingestellte CL nicht verträgt. Was hast du für eine CPU drin? Bei AMD kanns gerne passieren, dass der CPU dann auch langsamer taktet.

      3,4 MHz Intel...Na, in wieweit macht sich der "langsamere" Takt bemerktbar, wenn überhaupt?
      Bios: Frontsidebus finde ich unter welcher Rubrik?

        ECC? Registered (aka buffered)? Du solltest als erstes nachsehen ob dein Mainboard überhaupt ECC RAM verträgt. Steht im Handbuch. Das machen nämlich nicht alle. Normal sind non-ECC, non-registered.
        ECC ist in einem Heimcomputer sowieso eine sehr schlechte Wahl, da die Geschwindigkeit durch die Fehlerkorrektur langsamer ist. Das ist eigentlich für Server gedacht.

        Im BIOS gibt es oft eine Einstellung "by SDP". Dabei wird das RAM ausgelesen und automatisch die richtigen Timings eingetragen. Wenn nicht musst du es per Hand machen. Aber wie gesagt kommt dann noch die langsame Taktfrequenz hinzu. Das kommt dann auf den Prozessor an. Früher hing alles am FSB (d.h. die CPU wird auch langsamer, wenn man nicht gleichzeitig den Multiplikator erhöhen kann), während man heute z.B. bei den Athlon64 alles getrennt einstellen kann. Wo, unterscheidet sich je nach BIOS und Mainboard. Normalerweise ist es bei irgendwo bei "Chipset".
        Aber lass es vielleicht einen Freund oder Bekannten machen, da nicht nicht so gut auszukennen scheinst. Da einfach so rumzuwerken ohne sich etwas auszukennen ist keine gute Idee. Ansonsten schau erst mal im Handbuch nach. Da sind die Einstellungen meistens grundlegend erklärt.

        Und wenn es doch geht, hast du am Ende hast du doppelt so viel Speicher, der viel langsamer ist (durch ECC und den Takt). Das ist nicht unbedingt besser, auch wenn du ihn vielleicht auf 300MHz übertakten kannst.

        Wie gesagt, tippe ich stark darauf, dass dein Mainboard nicht mit ECC-RAM zurechtkommt.

          Hallo, das könnte durchaus richtig sein, da ich in den Bios die Taktrate von 333 auf 266 gesenkt hatte, aber trotzdem nix lief. Im Handbuch ist keinerlei Rede von ECC. Ich muss sagen, dass Dein Posting das bisher hilfreichste war. Hm...ich werde die Riegel mal einem Bekannten geben, der diese austesten wird.

                Steht doch dort: unbuffered, non-ECC.

                Und im Handbuch wird das bei den Spezifikationen auch erwähnt. Beim Einbau der RAMs steht noch mal "unbuffered" dort.
                Das gilt sowieso als Faustregel für alle nicht-Server mainboards. Unbuffered und registered sind das gleiche.

                  Keine Ahnung, welches Handbuch Du hast, in meinem steht im Memory-Kapitel nichts von ubuffered, registered oder non-ECC...

                    Ich habe die Version Online angesehen.

                    Kann sein, dass die Druckversion unterschiedlich ist, aber irgendwo sollte es mal erwähnt sein. Normalerweise steht es wenigstens am Anfang bei den Spezifikationen mal dabei
