Pretty much since its beginnings Ronald D. Moore's Re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica has courted controversy and according to a new report found yesterday at the TV Guide website, will continue to do so. Only it isn't the original series fan base that is up in arms this time, it's the censors. This all involves a scene which surrounds Lucy Lawless who will be a guest star in the second season.

Ausiello over at the TV Guide website reveals that "[Former Xena star] Lucy Lawless is gonna do a few episodes [in Season 2 of Battlestar Galactica] playing a Christiane Amanpour-type character. And I hear Sci Fi censors are freaking out about a really disturbing (yet visually stunning) scene in Episode 5. An upcoming issue of TV Guide magazine will have more on that little controvers

"Bright, shiny futures are overrated anyway" - Lee Adama, Scar

Throughout history the nexus between man and machine has spun some of the most dramatic, compelling and entertaining fiction." - The Hybrid, The Passage

Home...interessant...anscheinend wird sich in disen folgen wohl das meiste in caprica abspielen...

Kobol und Caprica scheinen jedenfalls zwei Zentrale Schauplätze für die 2. Staffel zu sein...

Lucy Lawless (of Xena: Warrior Princess fame will play a CNN-style reporter named Anna. She will be one of two new Cylon models introduced this season. Contrary to reports already posted, Lucy has been approached to play the recurring role, BUT she has not accepted as yet. The new series fans are hopeful that she will so that their favorite super-heroine will be able to kick some "Colonial butt" aboard the Galactica this year.

More Battlestar Galactica Season 2 spoilers were announced on the Colonial Confidential segment of Shaunomac's Subject-to-Discussion show at lvrocks this past Wednesday night, June 22nd. Read on only if you are interested in seeing how Galactica unfolds this year.

First up, Lucy Lawless has indeed accepted the role of Colonial reporter D'Anna Biers for at least one episode. This was also announced at the Official Xena website this week. D'Anna is one of two new Cylon models and reports indicate that she is very, very blonde.

Second, Episode 210's title is indeed "Pegasus," and the search is on for an actress to play the legendary Commander Cain. Filming of this episode begins in a few weeks so they will have to cast someone very soon if this episode is to be completed on time.

Third, Boomer has informed Baltar that there are eight Cylons aboard the Galactica. Two questions can be raised: Why are there so many of the enemy aboard the Battlestar and who are they? Interestingly, in a related news item Boxey will make an appearance in 3-4 episodes this season. Perhaps Boxey is one of those models; it would appear that nobody is above suspicion - except perhaps for Commander Adama and Laura Roslin...right?

Finally, President Roslin is getting ill very quickly, and it might very well be the case that she does not make it to Season 3 - unless her cancer is removed from her body in some miraculous fashion.

All these spoilers have been archived and can be heard at GalacticaStation.

More updates on Cain & the Pegasus episode will be forthcoming in the weeks ahead. Stay tuned for all the latest Battlestar Galactica information! And don't forget, the premiere episode for Season 2 airs in the US July 15th on SCI FI. The Canadian airdate on SPACE has yet to be announced.

Auf: http://www.lucylawless.info/battlestar-galactica/episodeguide.php sind auch einige Infos. Speziell dieser Abschnitt ist interessant:

Kara is shot as "The Farm" opens, and wakes up in what's left of a hospital facility on Caprica. Her friends are nowhere to be found, and Kara begins to suspect that her kindly doctor, Simon, has plans for her future. Believing the human race must be repopulated or face extinction, he encourages Kara to bear children.

"Flight of the Phoenix"...hm...Tyroll bastelt also ne neue Viper von Grund auf. Ist der Name vielleicht ne kleine Hommage an Moore's ST "First Contact" ?

                                Battlestar Galactica Episode 10 Details
"Pegasus" and the return of Cain
June 28th 2005 08:31pm | Posted by: Robert Falconer HNR Senior Editor

HNR has been provided a few details about Battlestar Galactica's tenth episode for season two, "Pegasus," inspired by an episode of the original 1978 series, entitled "The Living Legend," which starred the late Lloyd Bridges...and we're told this new interpretation is a doozey!

We warn you, the below contains spoilers, though we've elected to leave out significant details in this synopsis so as not to give away TOO much:

In the mid-season cliffhanger, the Galactica discovers that a second battlestar, the more advanced, Mercury-class battlestar Pegasus, has also managed to survive the Cylon holocaust. Many elements from the original series episode have survived in this story, but there are some important differences as well.

Aside from the Pegasus herself, we also have the return of Commander Cain, though this Cain is a woman and an admiral. Like the original, Cain is resourceful and driven...and like the original, Cain takes charge of the fleet and strategizes that the two battlestars together should attack a Cylon battle group that includes two basestars.

Beyond this, the story departs from the original in significant ways.

Admiral Nelena Cain explains that the Pegasus was docked at the Scorpion Fleet Shipyard - with its crew preparing for shore-leave - when the Cylons attacked and nuked the facility without warning. The other battlestars were obliterated along with a quarter of the Pegasus' crew. Cain's only chance for escape was a risky maneuver: an unplotted blind jump into possible oblivion.

In the intervening weeks, she tells Adama that the Pegasus has had several encounters with the Cylons - some devastating - including a betrayal by a humanoid Cylon infiltrator disguised as a dock worker. Cain and Adama naturally begin to discuss the future of the fleet, quickly leading Roslin to the realization that the Commander is no longer in charge of the military equation.

Cain tells Adama that they have been tracking a Cylon task force - that also includes a large, unidentifiable ship - that has been shadowing the Galactica and its fleet, and proposes that they combine forces to take on the Cylons. Though Adama is initially in agreement, tension rises over the following issues (and this is where the episode departs significantly from the original):

                                - Cain decides to integrate the battlestars' two crews and reassign certain personnel to the Pegasus, including Starbuck and Apollo...a decision that neither Kara or Lee accept willingly.

                                - Helo and Tyrol find themselves on trial facing a court-martial when a Lieutenant from the Pegasus dies after being assaulted, prompting Adama to make a choice between duty to rank and duty to his men, and ultimately creating a rift between himself and Cain.

In addition to Admiral Cain, the episode will feature several new Colonial characters from the Pegasus, including Stinger (the Pegasus' CAG officer), Lieutenant Thorne, Petty Officer Hoshi (the Pegasus' CIC officer), Fisk and Gina (a female Cylon captured by the Pegasus crew and provided to Baltar for analysis).

Season two of Battlestar Galactica premieres July 15 on SCI FI Channel in the US. The Canadian premiere date on SPACE has yet to be announced.
