The crew of the Battlestar Galactica will discover that theirs isn't the last surviving battlestar of the Twelve Colonies in an upcoming episode of the series, GateWorld has learned. Inspired by the original series episode "Living Legend" starring Lloyd Bridges as Commander Cain, "Pegasus" will air mid-way through the show's second season.

Beware of spoilers in the report below!

President Laura Roslin, Apollo, and Starbuck have returned to the fleet, and apparently patched things up with Commander Adama. Roslin is recognized as the President again, and must step up to the plate when the Galactica encounters another battlestar roaming the stars. It is the Battlestar Pegasus, a Mercury-class battlestar more advanced than the Galactica, commanded by female Admiral Nelena Cain.

Cain tells Adama and Roslin that the Battlestar Pegasus was docking at the Scorpion Fleet Shipyard, its crew preparing for an extended shore leave when the Cylon attack began. The Cylons nuked the shipyard without warning, destroying other battlestars and killing a quarter of the Pegasus's crew in a moment. To save the ship and the surviving crew, Cain ordered a blind jump -- no calculations, no direction. The ship could have ended up anywhere.

In the many weeks since, Cain and the Pegasus have had their share of run-ins with the Cylons. A humanoid Cylon came on board the ship at Scorpion disguised as a civilian dock worker and became friends with the crew, only to betray them later. Another 800 died when the Cylons were tipped off and boarded the Pegasus.

After catching up, Cain and Adama begin to discuss the fleet's future -- and Roslin realizes that Adama reports to the Admiral. Cain is in charge now. Laura is somewhat trepidatious, but very glad to have the lost ship back with them. Cain informs the commander that a Cylon fleet they have been tracking -- including two base ships, support ships, and one massive vessel they could not identify -- has been following the Galactica.

Cain intends to combine their forces for an all-out attack on the large ship, and Adama doesn't hesitate to agree. But there is one catch: After reviewing the Galactica's mission logs, the Admiral intends to integrate the crews and reassign some personnel to the Pegasus ... including Starbuck and Apollo.

The decisions send tensions into the statosphere, as Kara and Lee balk at the new orders. And when a lieutenant is assaulted and killed, both Helo and Chief Tyrol are arrested for courts martial. The Admiral's decision regarding their trial and their fate fractures the tenuous relationship between the two battlestars, forcing Adama to take drastic measures for his men.

Guest characters include Admiral Nelena Cain, Stinger (a pilot from the Pegasus, perhaps its CAG), Fisk, Lieutenant Thorne (the assault victim), Gina (a female Cylon captured by the Pegasus and studied by Baltar), and Petty Officer Hoshi (a Pegasus CIC officer).

"Pegasus" is the first of a multi-part episode, ending on a tense cliffhanger. It is not yet known whether this will serve as the mid-season finale in September, though the gravity of the story makes this likely.

The latest issue of TV Zone magazine, just out in the UK, features an exclusive interview with BATTLESTAR GALACTICA actress Katee Sackhoff, ('Lt Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace'), in which she talks about the upcoming second season episode "Home Part One". Here are a few excerpts :

"The story that we're shooting right now, part one of "Home", is when 'Starbuck' returns to the Galactica from Caprica after having travelled there to retrieve the Arrow of Apollo," Sackhoff told journalist Steve Eramo "She has the arrow, which the audience already knows, and our heroes have to now go to Kobol and the Tomb of Athena where they will supposedly find the directions to Earth. There's a huge group heading down to the planet, including 'Starbuck', 'Apollo', 'President Roslin', 'Tom Zarek' and a couple of 'Zarek's men."

"We're on location for most of this episode, and our first day out, the 1st of June, it poured and was extremely windy. I was purple and shivering, and at one point our first aid guy came up to me and said, 'You stopped shivering about five minutes ago'. I was like, 'So that means I'm not feeling the cold anymore,' and he said, 'No, sweetie, it's actually the warning signs of hypothermia'. I was like, 'Oh, really'. Believe it or not, we had to come back the following day to finish shooting. Happily, I'm no longer purple, but I do have a wicked cough and I'm not exactly feeling my best. To top it off, it's going to rain more over the next two weeks. So it's been a little tough, but Starbuck and I are hanging in there."

More from Sackhoff can be found at TV Zone and The Great Link.

      Das ist mir schon klar

Ich kann es schon jetzt sehen:

        Vielleicht wirds wirklich so...

Episode Title: Pegasus (first of two parts)
          Original Air Date: 2005
Guest starring: Unknown as Cain, Unknown as Stinger, Unknown as Fisk

Synopsis: The Battlestar Pegasus, thought to be destroyed in the original Cylon attack, stumbles upon the Galactica. The commander of the Pegasus, Admiral Cain, is Adama's superior and takes command, also deciding to make some major changes to the Galactica's crew. Tension mounts and violence ensues, with the two ships eventually becoming involved in a firefight and the Galactica at a serious disadvantage...

          -----------

Fisk and Tigh are drinking and exchanging stories of their encounters with the Cylons.

Adama and Laura are talking to Admiral Cain in Adama's quarters. Cain explains how they were attacked by the Cylons while docked at the Scorpion Fleet Shipyard for a three-month overhaul. The crew were to have taken some well-earned shore leave, but never got the chance. The Cylons nuked the shipyard and destroyed five ships (including two battlestars). The Pegasus got lucky and was flung back into space by the blast. Since they were undergoing repairs, the vipers were not fuelled or armed and so they were defenseless and had to use the FTL drive to execute a blind jump. It seems that like the Galactica, they had a Cylon agent on board, who managed to befriend many of the crew and earn their trust, before sabotaging the ship and handing the Cylons an easy victory.

Meanwhile, Apollo is talking to another pilot from the Pegasus, "Stinger," who seems very loyal to Admiral Cain and feels compelled to bring up the fact that Admiral Cain should now be in charge. Apollo re-affirms his loyalty to his father. Despite Stinger's attitude, Admiral Cain herself seems very nice about the situation and actually feels awkward taking over command of the fleet. President Roslin isn't quite sure what to make of the new chain of military command, but obviously has to accept it.

Meanwhile, Baltar has been studying a Cylon and has determined that the Cylon consciousness is much like a human one and has the same weaknesses - they can be manipulated and put under pressure just like us. It seems that the Cylon is called Gina and Baltar later visits her in her cell.

Later, Cain tells Adama that they had been following a Cylon fleet, made up of 2 base stars, several support ships, and a large unidentified vessel. She has come to the conclusion that this fleet has in fact been following the Galactica, hence how they stumbled upon each other. She has come to the conclusion that the unidentified ship is being heavily protected and therefore is important to the Cylons. She and Adama decide to undertake a joint recon mission, before planning an attack on the Cylon fleet.

Although Cain seems very understanding of the Galactica's position and Adama's command decisions, she makes it clear that there are to be certain transfers of the Galactica's crew to the Pegasus, including Apollo. She makes a point of bringing up the fact that having one's son as the CAG isn't a good idea and also mentions Apollo's (and Starbuck's) insubordination and mutiny, Helo's interactions with the Cylon Boomer, Tyrol's escapades, and Tigh's problems. It seems she has a fair point from a professional point of view.

During the transfer of Helo and Tyrol to the Pegasus in a Raptor, they attack and kill one of Cain's lieutenants. Cain wants to try them on the Pegasus, but Adama insists that the assault happened on Galactica. He suggests an independent tribunal. However, since Cain is a flag officer on detached services in war-time, she has the authority to try them on her own, and judges that they should be executed.

Of course, Adama will not accept this and promptly launches vipers and a raptor to the Pegasus, demanding that they return his men. Pegasus launches its own vipers in response and an edgy stand-off ensues. Neither Commander wants to fire first, but eventually one of the Pegasus vipers fires on Kat and a fire-fight begins. Cain decides that Adama is too much of a threat and orders her men to target the Galactica itself with their main battery.

FYI: The Pegasus is a Mercury class Battlestar.

            Und hier die Phönixfolge:

Episode 209 - Flight of the Phoenix

Helo and Starbuck are playing cards, with Kat and Hotdog (who have recently been given their flight wings) also present. Kat is being quite cruel to Helo, repeatedly bringing up the fact that he was in love with a Cylon (when he was back on Caprica with Cylon Boomer). Starbuck is not amused, and when Helo leaves to play hammerball, she makes that fact known.

Cally, who had been charged with unauthorised discharge of a firearm, has now been freed and is welcomed back by her friends on the flight deck.

Tyrol is frustrated and finds he can't sleep. He wants to try to build a new viper from scratch and he ends up spending the whole night starting the project. In the morning, he tells his team of his plan and they are in disbelief, not really believing that it could be done from scratch. After there are comments about how busy they already are, and how it would interfere with their duties, he makes it clear that it will be an off-duty project. Still, they don't really believe it can be done and appear to think that it would be a waste of time. Tyrol gets frustrated at the lack of enthusiasm and comes to the conclusion that he will have to do it on his own. Cally does seem willing to help however.

As Tyrol starts to get somewhere, the rest begin to see the project taking shape, they begin to help, though still somewhat despondently. Eventually they begin to see real results and are all surprised, even Helo.

Meanwhile, President Roslin is still trying to come to terms with her cancer. Cottle tells her to pray that the cancer hits her brain so she doesn't know where or who she is and so that she will feel less pain.

There is also a scene with Helo visiting Boomer in her cell on the Galactica.

And the big news was that Jane Seymour (Dr Quinn, East of Eden) from the original series, turned down the role of Admiral Cain. And Lynda Carter (WonderWoman), Victoria Principal (DALLAS), Susan Lucci (All My Children) and Kate Mulgrew (StarTrek Voyager) are all being consider for the hopeful female role.

If the role cannot be filled by a woman they are looking at David Soul (Starsky and Hutch) or Don Johnson (MiamiVice) who was in that show with Olmos.

                    ..
Shaunomac's Subject 2 Discussion show on lvrocks continues to cover news on the character of Cain in the upcoming 'Pegasus' episode of Battlestar Galactica.

The rank of Cain will be that of Admiral and she will pilot a more advanced, Mercury-class Battlestar. Apparently Cain and Adama duke it out for control of the fleet with the two battlestars poised for battle in the closing minutes of "Pegasus."

What was also revealed was that Jane Seymour was considered to play the part of Cain, but unfortunately turned down the role. As original series fans know, Seymour played reporter Serena in the Battlestar: Galactica pilot and then wed Captain Apollo in the opening series, two-parter, "Lost Planet of the Gods." She was brutally shot in the back by a Cylon at the end of the Part Two, leaving Apollo to parent her son Boxey by himself.

The transcript of Shaun's show can be heard at spankwagon. The last 10 minutes are devoted exclusively to Galactica news.

While it might have been nice to see a further connection with the original series (the first being Richard Hatch/Apollo playing revolutionary Tom Zarek), they have offered the role of Cain to another actress who is VERY familiar with the sci-fi television genre. Exactly who this will be as well as what happens in the follow-up Episode 211 will be revealed on Shaun's show this coming Wednesday, July 6th.

David Eick, co-creator and executive producer of SCI FI Channel's original series Battlestar Galactica, offered SCI FI Wire a few more details about the introduction of the Battlestar Pegasus, a returning element from the original series, which co-creator Ronald D. Moore revealed in a panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego. "This really came out of a conversation Ron and I had early on about the episodes we had seen of the original show and what felt like they might be well served by a fresh interpretation," Eick said in an interview. He added: "The storyline that we thought was interesting was the Battlestar Pegasus. And so, naturally, we put a pretty unexpected and I think pretty subversive spin on it. But it's definitely going to be a fixture for a while." The Pegasus appears beginning in the 10th episode of the second season.

The arrival of the Pegasus will launch a complex story arc inspired by current events, Eick said. "It stands to reason that in a show that's all about how we're all trying to survive this horrific attack by this inhuman enemy, that the thing that we're really exploring is not that threat from without, but how it turns itself inward and how it becomes insidious and internal, and how it begins to break us down from inside ourselves," he said. "And what better way to take that idea to the next level than to introduce another human being who, on the face of it, is going to help us defeat the Cylons, defeat that third outside enemy, once and for all, but in reality serves to only remind us once again that the biggest enemy is really us?"

Eick also hinted that the Pegasus will be involved in a multi-episode arc, though its crew may not be around as long. "It's not going to go away as quickly as people might think," he said. "That's not to say that the folks involved in bringing the Pegasus to us are going to remain indefinitely. But for sure it's going to be a fixture for some time." Battlestar Galactica airs Fridays at 10 p.m.

                                SPOILER

Some new spoilers came out today. They were provided via the same source that gave the ones for 12 and 13. This site appears to be both credible and reliable. While this ep is not specifically numbered as 14, it is reasonable to believe that it is such.

*The title of the ep is SACRIFICE

*A character names Seesha and her two mates, Vinson and Chu, take Lee, Ellen Tigh, Dualla, Billy and a handful of bar patrons hostage on Cloud 9.

*Ellen tells them that her husband is the XO.

*They force Ellen to contact Galactica.

*Seesha demands that Boomer be handed over to her. Apparently her husband was killed in the Cylon Holocaust and she wants an eye for an eye. She gives Galactica 2 hours or she'll kill all of the hostages.

*Boomer tells Adama that if the only way to prove her loyalty once again is for him to hand over to Seesha, so be it. After all, she's suddenly dreading bringing her child into a world such as this.

*Lee is somehow badly injured- shot. Dually tends to him as he bleeds out. Billy notices her affection for him.

*Adama delivers Boomer to Seesha- the dead Boomer. At first, Seesha doesn't notice. She pumps bullets into the corpse. She is about to free Ellen and the other hostages, but Vinson, who reminds me a lot of Zarek's flunkie Meier, notices the autopsy scar.

*Vinson turns to kill the hostages. Billy jumps Chu and grabs his gun. He shoots Vinson. Seesha shoots Billy in the back.

*The Marines burst in. Seesha is killed. Chu is taken prisoner.

*Adama enters and goes to Lee. Apollo shows signs of life.

*Dualla is horrified to see Billy on the ground, gasping for breath. She goes to him. She calls for a medic.

*Lee wakes up in sickbay. Dualla is over him.

                                *No idea if Billy survived.
