Während man auf die Deluxe Soundtracks von "Star Trek" und "Star Trek Into Darkness" gut ein Jahr warten musste, erscheint jener zu "Star Trek Beyond" bereits heute in den USA, nur 5 Monate nach dem normalen OST:

Das Schiff, das man während der Bausequenz im Hintergrund erkennen kann, ist übrigens beschriftet als USS Salcombe (NCC-2107) und benannt nach CG-Künstler Rhys Salcombe.

Trekcore.com hat ein nettes kleines Details entdeckt: Sulus Tochter besitzt eine Plüsch-Enterprise. Vermutlich handelt es sich dabei um Spielzeug, das von ThinkGeek stammt oder von QMX.

Hier einige weitere, sehr schöne Poster-Motive der chinesischen Kampagne.

In China ist "Star Trek Beyond" angelaufen mit einem geschätzten Einspielergebnis von 9,3 Mio. Dollar (+160 % gegenüber "Into Darkness", der dort 2013 in Summe 57 Mio.eingespielt hat). Auch in Südamerika ist der Film jetzt angelaufen, Mexiko folgt in einer Woche und als letzter großer Markt bleibt dann noch Japan übrig, wo der Film aber erst Ende Oktober anlaufen soll.

In den USA startet "Star Trek Beyond" seit gestern neu durch in den IMAX 3D-Kinos und läuft dort wieder für eine Woche. Am Montag ist in den USA ein Feiertag (Labor Day).

The third film in the reboot is set to hit South Korean screens August 18. “I don’t think we’ve ever been received quite the same way anywhere in the world,” Chris Pine told reporters at the news conference heralding his, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg and Justin Lin’s appearances to promote Star Trek Beyond to South Korean audiences August 16, at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas. Fans cames out of the woodwork in Seoul to greet the stars and director of Star Trek Beyond, and if the reception is any indication, the movie might just hit its mark in the overseas box office. While the numbers have come in lower than hoped domestically (trailing both the 2009 film and 2013’s Into Darkness), a strong international box office will all but guarantee a fourth installment in the Kelvin Timeline on the big screen. “I hope that this allows the franchise to be able to go on for the next, hopefully, 50 years,” Lin said to reporters. It is not known whether or not The Fast and the Furious director would be tabbed to take the helm a second-straight time if a fourth film is greenlit. Press conference aside, the event also gave the actors and director the opportunity to meet their adoring South Korean fans, who were not disappointed, receiving autographs and snapping pictures of the quartet. Pegg and Quinto also took advantage of the time to discuss the values Gene Roddenberry established in his franchise. I think that’s the one thing the audience will really embrace,” Lin said, reiterating the sentiment of his actors. Clearly, Lin and his cast get what Star Trek is truly about, which should make even the most critical fans of J.J. Abrams rebooted films smile. Abrams let it be known that he was not a fan of the series, stating in multiple interviews he grew up with a love of Star Wars (even leaving Star Trek to direct Episode VII last year). “(Lin) was great in taking over the reins,” Quinto said of the franchise’s ninth film director in 37 years. “He had a sense of story and a desire to draw on all of our relationships. It was a seamless transition.” “I’ve done enough sequels to know, it’s not something you just do. It’s something you earn and relationship you build with the audience globally,” Lin added. If the South Korean turnout is any indication, that global relationship should equal a long and fruitful history for this film iteration of Star Trek. The Enterprise captain noticed and appreciated the fans zeal for the franchise. “Thank you very much for having us, for your support, your passion for our really wonderful franchise ‘Star Trek,’ and we look forward to showing it to you,” Pine said. Hab mir die 3D Fassung angesehen und denke, das es nachträglich gemacht wurde Manchmal hat man Artefakte an Kannten gesehen...

Teils teils. Es kamen mehrere unterschiedliche Kameratypen zum Einsatz, auch eine 3D-Kamera war dabei.

Ich persönlich fand das 3D in "Beyond" im Grunde fehlerlos, aber nicht sonderlich auffällig. Da hatte "Star Trek Into Darkness" was Pop-outs angeht deutlich mehr zu bieten.

Gestern ging die Südkorea-Premiere in Seoul über die Bühne, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto und Justin Lin nahmen daran teil. Der Film startet morgen regulär in den südkoreanischen Kinos. An diesem Tag wird es dann in Peking die chinesische Premierenveranstaltung geben, ehe der Film dann am 2. September regulär dort startet. Hier ein chinesisches Filmposter im Querformat:

Der Kinosommer ist generell sehr schwach gelaufen. Captain America, Finding Dory, Pets oder jetzt Suicide Squad sind die einzigen Filme, die wirklich richtig im US-Box-Office eingeschlagen haben. Alle andere Filmen laufen schlecht oder OKish, aber sind auch keine Überflieger.

Star Trek macht das schwache internationale Geschäft zu schaffen. Der Film läuft aber auch noch in einige großen asiatischen Märkten an. Das wird die internationalen Zahlen nochmal puschen. Generell hat Beyond so ein bisschen das Problem, dass im Vorfeld kein Hype um den Film entstanden ist und der Streifen auch noch am Comic-Con Wochenende raus gekommen ist. Die Filmnachrichten waren voll mit Comic-Con Kram und Star Trek Beyond ist da völlig untergegangen.

Und trekcore.com führte ein Interview mit Co-Autor Doug Jung, in dem er u.a. erzählt, dass er rein zufällig zu seinem Gastauftritt im Film kam, weil der eigentlich für die Rolle gecastete Schauspieler absagte. Der Name seiner Rolle lautet übrigens "Ben", auch wenn der Name im Film nicht erwähnt wird.

Etwas enttäuschend schlägt sich Beyond an den Kinokassen. In der zweiten Woche hat der Film weltweit bis jetzt 160 Mio. Dollar eingespielt. In China wird der Film zwar erst in 4 Wochen anlaufen und einige Länder stehen auch noch an, aber es dürfte schon klar sein, dass das Ergebniss von Into Darkness nicht mehr einzuholen ist.
Ich rechne mit einem Gesamtergebniss von nicht mehr als 360 Mio. Dollar, was bei dem Budget nicht gerade gut ist.
