BSG Prequel "Caprica"

Nichts wird kaputt gemacht, man sucht nur neue Formate für SF. BSG war auch neu und hat den SF weitergebracht. Wenn man nichts ausprobiert gibt es keine Entwicklung und wir währen immer noch bei Alien attack movies im Stil der 50er.

SF ist eben nicht nur 'Star Wars' und 'Star Trek' sondern auch '1984' und 'brave new World'.

SF braucht dringend Innovation.

Naja, dass weit weniger SciFi sein würde als BSG war ja eigentlich klar, nur befürchte ich so langsam auch schlimmes. American Beauty war zwar eigentlich garnicht schlecht, da sowas in Serie aber nicht funtioniert, haben wir nun wohl doch unser SpaceDallas.
Vielleicht wacht Adama ja als Kind irgendwann in der Dusche auf und stellt fest, dass er BSG nur geträumt hat

Ne, im Ernst. Wenn ich das lese, dann sehe ich all meine Befürchtungen bestätigt. Wozu brauche ich für den Plot eine SciFi Serie?

Bitte Mr. Moore und Mr. Eick! Machen Sie wirkliche Science Fiction damit nicht kaputt!!!!

Diese "Befürchtung" halte ich nachwievor für Blödsinn. Selbst wenn die Serie Quatsch wird - inwiefern wird denn dadurch "wirkliche Science Fiction" (Definition bitte) kaputt gemacht?

Warum sollte durch Caprica wirkliche Science Fiction (was auch immer das nun wieder sein soll) kaputt gehen? Entweder die Serie ist so gut dass man sie sich anschauen kann, oder sie ist schlecht und wird ignoriert. ich sehe da kein Problem. Und was Vergleiche mit anderen Serien angeht: Firefly wurde als Western im Weltraum beschrieben. Da haben die meisten Leute auch "Och nö, dass kann nicht funktionieren." gesagt. Und sie lagen falsch.

Caprica Very Different From Battlestar

David Eick and Ronald D. Moore, executive producers of SCI FI Channel's original series Battlestar Galactica, told SCI FI Wire that their upcoming prequel Caprica will be a markedly different series.

Eick compared it to the feature film American Beauty, while Moore referenced the TV soap opera Dallas.

"Caprica is a story that Ron Moore and I concocted with [co-executive producer] Remi Aubuchon, and we're casting as we speak," Moore said in an interview at SCI FI Channel's upfront presentation to advertisers in New York on March 18. "I'm very excited about that. If Battlestar Galactica is Black Hawk Down, I would say that Caprica is American Beauty. Caprica is all about the inner lives of the people on a planet and how their personal relationships as well as their professional relationships inform what will become the creation of the Cylons."

Moore, a former Star Trek writer and producer, said that Caprica is not a show along the lines of any Trek spinoff series. "It's a different animal altogether," he said in a separate interview. "Unlike those shows, which are all riffs on the same notion of what Star Trek was, Caprica is really a completely different kind of genre. We're trying to do something different."

Instead of Galactica's action-adventure space-based war show, Caprica will tell a story that takes place before any of the wars happened. "This is really more of a sci-fi Dallas," Moore said. "It's a political story, a family story. It's about the creation of the Cylons, and it's about a company. It's planet-based. It's very character-oriented, very serialized and very much about the characters. It's a whole different genre, and that's what makes it exciting."

Production will begin this spring on a two-hour backdoor pilot. Moore said he will be "very involved" with the pilot, but stressed that it's too soon to say whether he'd remain on board if SCI FI Channel gave the green light for a weekly Caprica show.

"If it goes to series, it kind of depends when that happens and what I'm doing," he said. "We'll just wait and see." --Ian Spelling

koenigruels lag mal wieder richtig Da bin ich jetzt auch mal gespannt, die Story hat jedenfalls Potenzial und die beteiligten Leute sind auch keine Anfänger. Jetzt ist halt die Frage, ob sie es schaffen einen nicht zu sehr mit Familieninternas und Romeo&Julia-Geschichten zu qüalen, sondern einen spannenden Thriller zu inszenieren.

CAPRICA bekommt grünes Licht!

Es ist soweit. Caprica ist vom SciFi Channel bestätigt worden und die Produktion beginnt bereits diesen Frühling (so wie es die Gerüchte der letzten Wochen auch schon ankündigten).

Jetzt kann man nur mal gespannt sein wie sehr ehemalige BSG Fans diese Serie mögen werden. Die News findet ihr bei The Futon Critic. Den Text habe ich hier noch mit angegegeben. Darin ist ein Punkt in Rot, der bisher nicht als Bestandteil der Serie genannt wurde und ein Punkt in blau, der diesem vielleicht wiedersprechen könnte. Action muss ja nicht gleich Weltraumaction sein.

Ich zweifle zwar immer noch... bin allerdings ein wenig neugieriger auf weitere News geworden.

Ich finde die Tendenz zu Prequels bedenklich. Klar ist es interessant etwas über die Entstehungsgeschichte des Cylonen Konfliktes zu erfahren aber ich will wissen wie es weitergeht nicht wie es anfing.

Rückblenden innerhalb einer Serie find ich cool aber eine ganze Serie bei der man schon weiss wie es ausgeht ist langweilig.

Wenn sie BSG aber so definitiv abschliessen wie ich befürchte (keine Ueberlebenden) kann es natürlich nur einen Prequel geben.

Vielleicht dürfen wir uns ja auf ein Dallas in Space "freuen". Werde der Serie jedenfalls eine Chance geben.

Das ist es was ich am meisten befürchte. Dafür brauche ich kein SF Setting und ehrlich gesagt wäre das für mich rausgeschmissenes Geld. Schlimmstenfalls könnte ein Erfolg von Caprica richtungsweisend für andere SF-Produktionen sein. No more Space Adventure then!

Hoffentlich wird wenigstens was anständiges aus Stargate Universe.

Die Frage wird sein, ob sie es schaffen Caprica als etwas zu bewerben, dass anders genug ist, um auch Leute anzulocken, die BSG nicht mögen, gleichzeitig die BSG Zuschauer aber nicht verschreckt.
Gespannt bin ich jetzt ja mal in welche Richtung die Serie gehen soll, bisher war ja schon alles angekündigt, vom Wirtschafts-Thriller bis zum Familiendrama. Vielleicht dürfen wir uns ja auf ein Dallas in Space "freuen". Werde der Serie jedenfalls eine Chance geben. Und wenn's schlecht läuft können sie ja immernoch auf Action setzen und den ersten Krieg zeigen

Gerüchteweise soll der Dreh schon in 2 Wochen losgehen und weitere Folgen
sollen sogar bestellt sein.
Sind aber halt nur Gerüchte und wenn man die Quoten für die BSG Staffel 3
bedenkt ist ein finazieller Erfolg eines Prequels vlt. nicht ganz so Hoch.
Aber naja mal sehen zu Anfang war BSG ja Quotentechnisch auch recht Erfolgreich.

Nachdemes jetzt sehr lange Still war um Caprica, gibt es endlich mal wieder etwas neues. Dass fertige Drehbücher durch den Autorenstreik so langsam Mangelware werden, dürfte ja allgemein bekannt sein und genau deswegen lässt NBC Universal das Drehbuch zum Piloten nochmal von Scifi prüfen.

Naja, wer weiß das schon? Aus Verzweiflung, zB falls die Quote nicht den Erwartungen entspricht, wird da vielleicht eine ultrageheime Regierungsorganisation geschaffen, die mittels eines Relikts einer antiken Kultur in weit entfernte Galaxien reisen wird. Dort trifft man auch auf Ausserirdische. Angeführt wird das Erkundungsteam von einem eigentlich ausrangierten Colonel, der seinen Sohn verloren hat und...

Aber im Ernst: Machbar wäre das, wobei ich nicht wirklich scharf darauf wäre, denn damit würde man dem jetzt aufgestellten Galactica-Universum wieder viel von seinem Wesen nehmen.

Also ich verstehe zwar nicht, was du gegen Aliens in der SF hast, aber im BSG Universum gibts ja nun definitiv keine.
Da werden sie auch bei Caprica keine aus dem Hut zaubern.
