Na das klingt doch schon viel besser!
So paßt es wenigstens auch logisch zum etablierten BSG Universum.
Nun, da dieser Unsinn aus dem Weg ist, bin ich ja mal gespannt, wie das Ergebnis genau aussehen wird.
Könnte sogar spannender werden, als BSG selbst, wenn man das Thema und die Stimmung des drohenden Untergangs einer Hochzivilisation gut umsetzt.

Die Erklärung für die widersprüchlichen Aussagen könnte recht einfach sein. Aubuchons Konzept war ja ursprünglich ohne zu Bezug zu BSG. Wahrscheinlich bezieht er sich in seinen Aussagen mehr auf sein ursprüngliches Konzept. Moore auf der anderen Seite ist natürlich eher bemüht Aubuchons Konzept in den Hintergrund des Galactica-Universums zu integrieren. So lange Moore das letzte Wort hat, sollte sich die neue Serie auch recht gut in den BSG Hintergrund einfügen.

"It’s a different kind of show. More of a drama. It’s corporate intrigue and interfamily politics...there are rival companies that are trying to develop the same technology. The government plays a role in trying to sort of get certain military aspects of the technology in place. It’s all coloured by the fact that we know none of this is going to come to a good end. This is a doomsday scenario that we know is leading to something really, really bad, that you’re watching unfold before your eyes."

Wobei bei den anderen ja zuerst die Menschen die Maschinen unterdrückten. Hier scheinen es aber die Maschinen, aus welchen Gründen auch immer, zuerst mit den Menschen zu machen.

Die Prämisse is doch Quark. Sowas wie die Galactica und den Sprungantrieb baut man doch nicht mal eben so in 10 Jahren nachdem man grade angefangen hat den Weltraum zu bereisen. Zumal die ja mit RAUMSCHIFFEN zu den Kolonien gekommen sind...
Das würde den Low Tech Look bei BSG viel viel unrealistischer machen. Bisher konnte es ja mit dem Krieg gegen die Zylonen begründet werden, aber man entwickelt doch nicht mal eben innerhalb von 40 Jahren FTL Raumfahrt und Intelligente Roboter und schafft das dann alles inklusive Schlüsseltechnologien wieder ab um es dann wieder einzuführen.. Das ist doch unglaubwürdig..

Ich weiß nicht, ich weiß nicht. Kann sein, dass die Serie ganz unterhaltsam wird. Immerhin habe ich damals auch Dallas gesehen. Aber wahrscheinlich wirds wie der neue Superman Film. Er wird bestimmt gut gemacht sein, aber nicht das werden was ich von der Story her erwartet habe. Daher vielleicht sogar eine kleine Enttäuschung.

Raumfahrt müssen sie haben, das steht ja auch im Text. Sie werden aber zu diesem Zeitpunkt nur die nähere Umgebung der 12 Kolonien kennen. War die Galactica selber nicht schon 40 Jahre alt?

Schöner wäre es gewesen, man hätte die Kolonisation von Caprica von Anfang an gezeigt, also wie sich die Kolonisten vom 1. Tag an allen Widrigkeiten stellen müssen die ein "frischer" Planet so mit sich bringt. Krankheiten, feindliche Flora oder Fauna, mangelnder Nachschub und so on. Die Entwicklung einer neuen Gesellschaft etc.

und was ist, wenn die menschen im mittelalter von auserirdischen auf caprica gebracht wurden?
dann hätten wir einen mittelalterfilm.

Eigentlich hab ich mich gefreut als ich das gelesen habe, die Meldung, dass vielleicht ein Sequel kommt. Aber "Dallas" im Weltraum? Nein danke. "oh, die Tuss da hat das schönere Kleid an als ich!!" Abgesehen davon, daß ich bzgl. "Caprica" auch sehr skeptisch bin (wenn auch aus anderen Gründen): Hier kommt mal wieder Deine recht enge Definition von "Science Fiction" zum Tragen.

Nehmen wir z.B. einmal einen Klassiker der SciFi, die Dune-Romane. Darin gibt es noch wesentlich weniger "typische" SciFi-Elemente, die Themen "Religion" und "Politik" sind noch wesentlich ausgeprägter als in BSG und entscheidende Schlachten werden nicht einmal mehr von einem Piloten aus der Ferne beobachtet, sondern finden zwischen zwei Kapiteln statt. Trotzdem käme niemand auf die Idee zu behaupten, Dune sei keine Science Fiction.

Und außerdem: Die ersten Ankündigungen zur BSG-Miniserie ließen (zumindest mich) damals auch Schlimmes erahnen. Inzwischen sollten sich die Produzenten einen kleinen Vertrauensvorschuß verdient haben.

Ah ja, less advanced. Natürlich. Wie paßt denn das zusammen?
Als Will Adama 11 Jahre alt war, gab noch fast keine Raumfahrt??
Man will sicher bewust den Lowtech Look von BSG beibehalten, obwohl doch soweit ich weiß die Kolonien technologisch vor dem Zylonenkrieg sehr hochentwickelt waren?! Klingt sehr widersprüchlich.

This is a very human story about how out own hubris can lead us to disaster. This is a show that owes itself more to Dallas in some ways than to Star Trek.

Ein paar Infos zum BSG-Spin-Off Caprica vom Produzenten der neuen Serie Remi Aubuchon (gefunden bei scifipulse.net):

In an exclusive interview for Dreamwatch Magazine Producer Remi Aubuchon gave a few helpful insights about the pending Galactica Spin – off Series Caprica.

It will surprise some to know that the story for Caprica was initially intended as a stand-alone series.

“I had pitched a story to NBC/Universal Studios independent of Battlestar (an allegorical story about slavery with robots) and Ron [Moore] and David [Eick] were considering a prequel, but were obviously busy with their obligations on the current show so the studio suggested we meet. We hit it off big – time and within a couple of months, the three of us had worked out the concept, took it to Sci Fi and by January we’d sold it.”

“In Caprica, William Adama is 11 – years old; most of the characters on Battlestar haven’t been born yet! The context of the Battlestar world gives us more storytelling opportunities, at least for fans, because there will be some answers to the burning questions that I have had.”

“We want Caprica to stand on it’s own. We’re hoping that people who’ve never heard of Battlestar Galactica (there must be one or two!) can still watch Caprica and not feel they’re out of the loop somehow.”

Okay, beim "Dallas"-Vergleich rollen sich mir natürlich die Fußnägel auf, allerdings finde ich die Idee "slavery with robots" sehr interessant. Da könnte man viele Elemente aus Asimovs Roboter-Romanen unterbringen oder die Problematik, wie sie in der TNG-Folge "The Measure of a Man" angesprochen wurde, weiterspinnen.

Auch frage ich mich, wie gut sich "Caprica" in den BSG-Hintergrund einfügen wird, da das Konzept der Serie ja ursprünglich von Aubuchon ohne BSG-Bezug entwickelt wurde.

OMG bloß nicht. Ich habe ehrlich gesagt keine Lust mich mit Stammtischlern darüber zu unterhalten die am Ende doch nichts verstehen.

Ok, diesen Einwand kann ich gut nachvollziehen und ich gebe dir hiebei vollkommen recht. Jedoch glaube ich nicht, dass sich Stammtischler überhaupt mit einer Serie wie BSG auseinandersetzen.
Ich dachte da eher an Leute wie uns! Ich gehe mal davon aus, dass sich hier eher gebildetere Menschen aufhalten und diese durchaus in der Lage sind,
ernste Themen, welche sich sicher in näherer Zukunft (wenn nicht eh schon gegeben) positionieren werden, zu diskutieren!

Ich bin mir sehr sicher, dass er dabei nicht wörtlich "daily soaps" meint. Der Begriff wird manchmal ziemlich weit ausgelegt

"Soap" wird gerne mal abwertent für bestimmte Elemente wie Liebesbeziehungen aller Art verwendet.
Ich habe auch schon Leute erlebt, die damit einen Fokus auf Charakterentwicklung kritisiert haben
